"Love"

"Love"

By: Mary C. Aikens

     Love is always in the air, especially around Valentine's Day.  This particular painting will make an ideal gift for that particular sweetheart for Valentine's Day.   Here is a unique way how to write that word "LOVE"  out this way in an artistic style.  This "LOVE" sign has the letter "O" in a heart-shaped style. which has been an inspiration to me by my husband by his writing "L<3VE" to me in numerous cards and notes to me as well his doodling.

* This particular art-sign is different from the other sign pieces in this shop mainly because
    it is actually a framed painting.
*  There are both highlights as well shadowing on the letters.
*  This painting was done in acrylic and Mixed-Media on hardboard.
*  The picture frame was done in acrylic on yellow pine.
*  Measurements: (Picture)  16" W X 12" H x 1/8" T
                                  (Frame)   16" W X 12 - Hole for for this picture
                                                    1 1/2" W X  3/4" T  (Frame leg width & thickness)
                                  (Overall Measurements)  18 1/2" W X 14 1/2" H

"Black Ankle-High Cowboy Boots"

"Black Ankle-High Cowboy Boots"

     Boots are among my most favorite subjects to paint - especially when they are related to cowboy boots.  I am learning to paint in a different style since my purchase of a book called "Daily Painting" by Carol Marine.  Since its arrival on Thursday, November 6, 2014, I have been absorbing myself in this book as much as possible.  It was on Saturday, November 8, 2014 when I was so passionate about painting with strokes.  When I was painting the background of this picture, I was so flabbergasted that I wiped it off and repainted the background.  While I was painting the boots, I came across many shades of black and lights on them.  This painting, "Black Ankle-High Cowboy Boots" can be found in the "Stroke Challenge".

     Oh by the way, if you wish to buy a copy of this particular book, you can find it on Amazon.com, and not-to-forget, it is very well worth the money with many helpful tips.  In the meantime, I am very thrilled that I finally have this copy of  "Daily Painting" since I cannot attend any of Carol Marine's painting workshops due to holding a day job in the area of Design Drafting.

"Think Positive" (Sign)

"Think Positive"
Philippians 4:4-8

(Plaque)

"Think Positive" is a sign that encorages positive thinking with a Bible verse that validates the importance of thinking positive.  This particular sign was an inspiration of my mother due to her "Advice To The Bride" at one of  my bridal showers.  It was about three years ago when I both copied the letters and words in the style of that text book cursive writing while I was making this sign.

* "Philippians 4:4-8" - Bible verse references which are some of my most favorite Bible verses

                                because they are so uplifting  The Bible verses go like this:
                                V. 4 - "Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again, I say, Rejoice.
                                V. 5 - " Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand."
                                V. 6 - "Be careful for nothing: but in every thing by prayer and supplication
                                           with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God."
                                 V. 7 - "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep
                                           your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
                                 V. 8 - "Finally, bretheren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things
                                            are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
                                            whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report;
                                            if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
                                  (Please note that I copied these verses from the King James Version.)
